Grossly Exaggerated Ability. Don't fall for it. : Sound Storm Laboratories EV4.400 400-Watt 4-Channel Power Amplifier with High/Low Crossover

If you are looking at this amp's specs and thinking "Wow, this is too good to be true", you would be correct. I am not sure how it is legal for SSL to make these outrages claims when the equipment does not achieve even 1/4 of the power listed. Cranked to max, you will get about 10 watts RMS and it will be clipping like crazy. I bought this for a factory speakers/amp replacement and it was much worse than the stock radio. Look at ANY other amp out there with these same power ratings. They will all have at least 30 amps of fusing and this thing has a single 15 amp fuse which makes it physically impossible to achieve what it claims. I ended up buying a Kenwood Kac-8405 and just pulled the wires from this amp and put them straight into the Kenwood and it sounds amazing now. I'm not one of those people that is overly critical of the sound, but a deaf person could have told you the SSL amp sounded like garbage. I based my decision for this product partly on the positive reviews on Amazon, so I thought I would try to help someone else from getting hit by the same surprise I was. Spend a little more money and get something that actually works. It is not worth $50 to take a chance on this thing. Don't make the same mistake I did.
